A Promise of Enduring Love

Up to this time this is my favorite poem.
--------------

You say,
She said, Love
Is not immortal. It dies.
Don’t get too close lest it take your heart to Sheol too

I say, She is wrong.
I am in love with you and will stay forever thus entwined.

You say,
But now she has spoken
And I cannot stay the same
Will you leave? Will I?

Angel, you are a dove that brings peace.
Love, now I wish I could bring peace to you.

You were quiet.

I know! I will write a poem
Entitle it “Enduring Love”.

You might have smiled, I envisioned it.

No, says I, what have we endured?
Nearly a year, but no more.
Instead, I will write you a poem.
Entitle it “A Promise of Enduring Love”

You smiled.

So did I.

  1. I love it, Johnny.:)

I know nothing about poetry, so I can't really critique, but it's really encouraging.
